Vegan Executive Pastry and Savory Chef

A HOT new brand is seeking a Vegan Executive and Pastry Chef to join our company’s team. Overview of Responsibilities

  • Working very closely with general managers and owners

  • Hands-on working with the Kitchen team leading our day to day operations and training.

  • Manage a tight kitchen that will not only pride itself in being internally organized, but will also be producing creative, yet approachable & healthy menus

  • Responsible in the the creation and development of Menus and menu additions

  • Creating new and exciting specials

  • Plan and oversee the production and presentation of all breads, morning pastries, cookies and desserts

  • Prepare items for special diets as needed for vegan, gluten free, nut allergies, etc.

  • Participate in the cooking and preparation of all types of food items including savory food items.

  • Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries

  • Prepare custom-made pastries based on customers’ preferences (e.g. special occasions like birthdays)

  • Work closely with the Events Department to keep the menu updated to current restaurant menu trends

  • Assisting customers with orders and ensuring exceptional customer service

  • Measure, weigh, and properly use recipes in order to produce quality products

  • Other reasonable assigned duties/tasks as per business needs

  • Demonstrate good math and English skills for calculating, communicating, writing requisitions/completing food inventories and for retrieving information as needed

  • Continuously monitor daily labor and food cost reporting sheets to ensure costs are trending within budgeted parameters

  • Responsible for Vendors sheets, Inventories (monthly) and ordering

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Back of House Management experience in high- volume, fine-dining restaurants

  • 2+ years of baking experience REQUIRED

  • Strong experience in baking and special diets is REQUIRED

  • Minimum of 1+ years’ food preparation and food handling experience is REQUIRED

  • Ensure A+ standards for kitchen cleanliness and follow all Health Department Guidelines to ensure proper food handling from the beginning to the end when the food is leaving the kitchen

  • Must be reliable and dependable

  • Experience working in a high volume, fast paced food and/or retail environment

  • Knowledge of a variety of styles of pastries and different preparation methods

  • Ability to take direction from all levels of management

  • Must be able to meet physical demands of position including: standing for extended periods of time, bending, pulling, pushing, carrying up to 50 pounds, etc.
