Adaptive Culinary Teacher

This is your opportunity to join our team as an adaptive culinary class teacher making a direct impact in people’s lives by teaching private cooking lessons tailored to individuals with special needs in their homes across NJ and NYC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and delivering adaptive cooking classes to neurodiverse individuals

  • Adapting recipes and teaching techniques to accommodate different dietary needs and learning styles

  • Assessing the needs of each individual and providing guidance and support as needed

  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment for all participants

  • Creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants


Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching and/or working with individuals with diverse abilities

  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various dietary needs and restrictions, and the ability to adapt recipes accordingly

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation and willingness to travel to client homes.

  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching culinary arts and life skills through cooking.

Education:
Culinary education and/or professional culinary experience preferred or at least 3 years of experience in the culinary field. This experience does not have to be in a professional setting. The candidate should possess an understanding of basic and intermediate cooking techniques and feel comfortable teaching in a variety of private home kitchens
Special education or related field training is a plus

Expected hours: 2 – 20 per week. Flexible schedule.

Salary: $30.00 - $60.00 per hour
